Glaswegian producer Rustie is set to release a re-worked version of ‘Surph’ as a standalone single.
By nature a shy and retiring soul, Rustie doesn’t half make an epic noise. Debut album ‘Glass Swords’ was a stunning introduction to his imagination, fusing a near prog sensibility with devastating shards of bass.
Recently scooping the Guardian’s First Album Award, Rustie is not set to rest on his laurels. Album cut ‘Surph’ will be re-worked for a standalone single release, with Nightwave stopping by on guest vocals.

So what do you think? Is this the moment Rustie goes pop? Those cliff-edge drops are reminiscent of Magnetic Man, while Nightwave’s vocals wouldn’t seem out of place in a commercial club environment.
With Jessie Ware seemingly set to crack the mainstream, 2012 could see bass music further infiltrate the charts. Will Rustie be among them?
