Russ Shares New Album ‘SANTIAGO’ In Full

It owes a debt to therapy and Paulo Coelho...

Russ has shared his new album ‘SANTIAGO’ in full.

The hugely experienced American artist has built an imposing catalogue, with new album ‘SANTIAGO’ representing his sixteenth full length project to date. Airing material from the release during a spectacular set in the desert outside Los Angeles, Russ has now shared the record in full.

Out now, he trailed the project with an intimate conversation alongside Zane Lowe for Apple Music, revealing that this feels like his debut record. Elsewhere, Russ also spoke about going through therapy, with sessions taking place over Zoom right there in the studio.

Blending hip-hop production aspects with R&B sounds, ‘SANTIAGO’ also has a curious debt to novelist Paulo Coelho.

He comments…

‘SANTIAGO’ is an album that is loosely inspired by the book The Alchemist by Paulo Coelho. It’s my journey to self love and self mastery while touching on the obstacles that have provided resistance along the way… Feelings of emptiness, inadequacy, imposter syndrome, anger, issues from my childhood and how they’ve shown up in my adult life, etc.

It’s the most vulnerable music I’ve ever made and I had to do a lot of excavations to make it. It was a confronting experience and I hope it resonates with people who are trying to navigate the obstacles on their own journey.

Tune in now.
