Rue Delaney’s ‘Butterfly’ Purrs With Energy

"The realisation that you’ve lost all sense of who you are..."

London based creator Rue Delaney has shared new single ‘Butterfly’.

The new single marks the way for her incoming EP ‘Hello Dark World’, sculpted in Finsbury Park and Peckham studios. Using electronic production to bolster her alt-pop vision, Rue Delaney tackles some challenging themes – think violence towards women, mental health, and LGBTQ+ rights – while pursuing highly individual aims.

Out on September 9th via Cascine, the EP is led by beautiful new single ‘Butterfly’ a song that purrs with energy. The dulcet vocal is contrasted with the spider-like guitar line, with waves of gauzy electronics permeating her songwriting.

A song about identity, and independence, ‘Butterfly’ becomes a vessel for Rue Delaney to work through some key issues. She comments…

“’Butterfly’ is the realisation that you’ve lost all sense of who you are…”

She adds that songwriting is “almost like therapy, it gave me a way to remove myself from the pain and focus on a piece of work that moved me forwards.”

A potent return, ‘Butterfly’ is aligned to some dazzling visuals, shot through with entrancing colour.

Tune in now.
