A much loved production duo, Bergen's Royksopp had seemed to be in rude health of late.
Collaborating with Robyn on the 'Do It Again' mini album, the pair have confirmed plans for their next move: their final album.
Titled 'The Inevitable End' it is said to be darker in tone than previous studio efforts. A pair of press quotes:
Svein Berge: "With ‘The Inevitable End’ we've moved into a darker subject matter, with emphasis on the lyrical content. This candid approach feels very both personal, sincere and conclusive."
Torbjørn Brundtland: "With this album it became clear we wanted to make an album in a classical sense even if it's the last one we make."
Out on November 10th, check out 'The Inevitable End' preview 'Skulls' below.
Note: this needn't be the end of Royksopp. Svein Berge hints that new material could follow, but definitely not in the traditional album-led sense. "We feel like this is a goodbye to the traditional album format. In our consecutive run of albums, we have been able to say what we want to say and do what we want to do with the LP. We're not going to stop making music, but the album format as such, this is the last thing from us."
Wait and see, friends, wait and see…
