Rough Trade will open a shop in Liverpool, it has been confirmed.
Rough Trade opened its first shop in the late 70s, quickly becoming a key redoubt in post, post-punk, indie, and beyond. Currently, five branches operate around England – Bristol, Nottingham, and three in London.
Kicking into 2024, Rough Trade has confirmed it will open a branch in Liverpool later this year. The new move marks the chain’s sixth outlet in England, and it will also be the biggest yet.
Set to be housed at 50-56 Hanover Street in Liverpool city centre, the new shop will span 6500 square feet.
Alongside vinyl and CDs, Rough Trade Liverpool will host special in-store events and live performances. It will house an all-new bar and cafe, created in partnership with Signature Brew and Dark Arts.
Lawrence Montgomery, managing director at Rough Trade, comments: “We are excited to grow our UK presence with a store in Liverpool. The city has such a rich musical heritage as well as a vibrant scene right now which we hope to honour and represent in the best way we can…”
“The scale (both size and ambition) of the store shows our commitment and investment to the city. We can’t wait to delight customers in the record store and venue in due course.”
