Rough Trade are set to release new book 'Let's Start A Pussy Riot' at this year's Meltdown Festival.
In an era when rock stars flog trainers on a near daily basis, the incendiary fury – the sheer meaning – of Pussy Riot left the world entranced. Jailed after playing a show in protest at the Russian church's collusion with Putin's rule, the case caused a global outcry.
Sir Paul McCartney recently wrote to Russian authorities, and now Rough Trade has gathered testimony from a number of musicians. 'Let's Start A Pussy Riot' is set to be released as part of the Meltdown Festival, and was crafted in collaboration with members of the group.
Curated by Emely Neu and edited by Jade French, contributors include Judy Chicago, Jón Gnarr, Antony Hegarty, Bianca Casady, Sarah Lucas, Bobby Conn, Robyn, Kim Gordon, Lucky Dragons, Billy Childish, Jeffrey Lewis and many more.
The tome will be available to purchase at the Royal Festival Hall bookshop during Meltdown (June 14th – 23rd) before being made available to the wider public. At first only distributed through independent record shops, you will be able to purchase 'Let's Start A Pussy Riot' via the Rough Trade website from June 24th.
