Roska Prepares New EP

UK Funky don returns

UK Funky producer Roska is preparing to release his new ‘EP2’ on Rinse later this summer.

Tiring off the constant bass onslaught led by the dubstep scene, a new generation of producers are twisting house music into new forms. Merging sub bass with house music, adding a little Soca, UK Funky is one of the hottest dance forms in the capital right now.

Sparked by just a handful of records, producer Roska sits near the centre of the scene. With cuts such as ‘Feeline’ and ‘Handbag’ the beatsmith has helped turn London’s club land on its head.

Releasing his debut album through Rinse earlier this year, the London producer is set to start the summer with a new EP. Taking three of the most dancefloor heavy cuts from the LP, Roska will release ‘EP2’ on June 28th.

Showcasing Roska’s eclectic taste in beats, the new EP opens with ‘Squark’. A cult favourite, the skeletal track is a world away from the lush sub bass bounce of most UK Funky output.

Taking its cue from sparse dubstep productions, it lacks the heavy dread of most soundsytem fare. Elsewhere on the new EP, ‘Tomorrow Is Today’ looks back at the producer’s past as a grime DJ.

A favourite on Rinse FM, ‘Tomorrow Is Today’ nods as the grime scene but lacks the machismo supplied by most MCs. Finally, the EP contains the summer laden vibes of ‘Hey Cutie’.

Meanwhile, Roska continues the funky vibes on his weekly Rinse show. The house don takes over the station every Tuesday between 5pm – 7pm, mashing up an eclectic array of styles with some rare and un-issued cuts.

Roska will release ‘Roska EP2’ on June 28th.
