Scottish songwriter Rosie H Sullivan has shared her new song ‘What A Life’.
The rising artist was bought up on the Isle of Lewis, before navigating her way to Edinburgh. Music has been her constant companion, with Rosie’s acoustic hewn neo-folk hymnals capturing a certain analogue, deeply humane property.
Out now, new single ‘What A Life’ is deeply impressive, with the gentle acoustic guitar line just perfect for these Autumn days. A moment of plaintive introspection, her hushed vocal is aimed towards a form of pure communication.
Reminiscent of Laura Marling at times, there are also shades of Phoebe Bridgers at play here. A song born from what she confesses was “a difficult time”, ‘What A Life’ serves to become a bridge from a negative period, to something more positive.
She comments…
“This song is very personal and completely transparent; I wrote it at a difficult time, full of uncertainty and change. The lyrics are very close to my heart, and I think this really comes through. I needed to get into the zone for this one – I got myself back to the headspace I was in when I wrote the song and just sat and sang my emotions out…”
