Rolling Stones legend Ronnie Wood has confirmed plans to release a new solo album on September 27th.
Always the bridesmaid, never the bride. Ronnie Wood is one of rock’s greatest sidemen, adding his blues-driven guitar skills to The Jeff Beck Groups, The Faces and of course The Rolling Stones.
One of rock’s outlaw figures, his personal life has seen Ronnie Wood splashed all over the tabloids. With a proposed Rolling Stones tour being cancelled, the guitarist has, however, been able to tour with The Faces.
Playing a handful of shows with Mick Hucknall on vocals, the likely lads rolled back the years with a fantastic performance at this year’s Vintage At Goodwood festival.
Now Ronnie Wood is set to step out of the shadows for a rare solo album. Typically star-studded, the guitarist has called in some favours from rock’s elite for only his seventh solo album in over four decades.
Due to be released on September 27th, Ronnie Wood will be joined by one time Guns N Roses icon Slash. An outspoken fan of the Rolling Stones, the top hat wearing guitarist is set to appear on the new album.
Elsewhere, Ronnie Wood will be joined by elastic bass player Flea, while ZZ Top’s Billy Gibbons is also due to appear. Soul icon Bobby Womack will add his vocals, while country legend Kris Kristofferson makes a guest appearance.
Long time friend and Faces colleague Ian MacLagan jams with Ronnie Wood on the album, cementing a partnership which is now more than forty years young. Little has been heard from the new album, although the Rolling Stone is streaming a new track on his website.

In previous interviews Ronnie Wood claimed that he was writing new material for The Faces. It’s not known if this album represents material intended for the famously boozy British rockers.
