Ronnie James Dio Hologram Unveiled

During a performance by the Dio Disciples...

Metal icon Ronnie James Dio is set to tour once more – as a hologram.

The singer died in 2010, but the Dio Disciples introduced a hologram version during their set at Germany's Wacken Open Air festival.

The hologram performed 'We Rock', surrounded by bandmates and friends. The performance stormed social media, with 'Ronnie James Dio' now set to become a fixture of the Dio Disciples live set.

The hologram was crafted by Eyellusion who utilised thousands of photos and videos of the singer.

The late singer's wife Wendy Dio oversees his legacy, and she told Rolling Stone that the show had an enormous impact on her. “I cried the first time I saw it,” she said. “It was quite, quite scary. Our crew, when they first saw it at rehearsal, they were in tears. It's absolutely amazing.”

Dio Disciples are planning to expand the number of songs the hologram appears in, and take it on a world tour next year.
