Rolling Stones Re-Issue Project

Fourteen albums get expanded

Debauched rock ‘n’ roll legends The Rolling Stones are set to re-master and re-issue fourteen albums this year.

The group are set to investigate the period that begins with their album ‘Exile On Main Street’ and ends with the dawn of the Millennium. Taking in thirty five years of material, the new project is a massive undertaking but will shed light on some under appreciated elements of the band’s back catalogue.

The Rolling Stones recorded ‘Exile On Main Street’ in the south of France amid a haze of alcohol and drugs. One of the most influential records in modern rock, it has provided a blueprint for groups such as Primal Scream and Oasis.

Since then the band have dabbled in disco, become the elder statesmen of rock, toured to ever increasing audiences and lost founding member Bill Wyman to the blues.

The new project includes some of the bands most famous records including ‘Goats Head Soup’ and ‘Sticky Fingers’ – which famously included a sleeve designed by Andy Warhol. A special collectors box is planned to house all fourteen albums, and each record will be available on digital formats.

The Rolling Stones are set to re-issue their albums in the following batches:

First batch (May 4)

‘Sticky Fingers’
‘Goats Head Soup’
‘It’s Only Rock ‘N’ Roll’
‘Black And Blue’

Second batch (June 8)

‘Some Girls’
‘Emotional Rescue’
‘Tattoo You’
‘Undercover’

Third batch (July 13)

‘Dirty Work’
‘Steel Wheels’
‘Voodoo Lounge’
‘Bridges To Babylon’
‘A Bigger Bang’

As yet, no release date has been given for the re-release of ‘Exile On Main Street’.
