Legendary British rockers The Rolling Stones could be set to claim number one on the album charts, if the latest figures are anything to go by.
Released in 1972, ‘Exile On Main Street’ perfectly captures the Rolling Stones’ addictive sleaze. An amalgamation of blues, country and more it’s sprawling tracks seem to retain their mystery almost forty years on.
One of the band’s most popular releases, a newly expanded edition of ‘Exile On Main Street’ is proving to be a hit with fans. According to the latest mid-week figures, the album is heading for the number one slot.
Re-issued with some never before heard material, ‘Exile On Main Street’ is currently outselling some strong competition.
Returning with their new album ‘The Dance’, Faithless are hot on the band’s heels with less than 1000 copies separating them. Neck and neck, the race remains too close to call however with multiple formats available The Rolling Stones should have enough momentum to see them claim pole position.
Elsewhere, a number of massive new releases are set to chart in the Top Ten. LCD Soundsystem’s new album ‘This Is Happening’ is set to be the band’s final statement and the record has recorded strong first day sales.
Baseball’ ‘Strike’ could also chart highly, with a total of four new entries set to smash their way into the Top Five.
Meanwhile, Bob Ft Bruno Mars’ ‘Nothin’ On You’ looks set to top the singles chart. Also smashing their way into the upper echelons of the chart is Alexandra Burke with her new single ‘All Night Long’ set to enter the Top Ten.
Bizarrely, charity single ‘Leeds Leeds Leeds (Marching On Together)’ by Leeds United Team And Supporters is also on the fringes of the Top Ten, competing with Muse and Pretty Reckless.
