Mexican guitar slingers Rodrigo Y Gabriela are celebrating after their debut album was declared gold in the UK.
The duo have become the toast of musicians everywhere with their light-fingered flamenco take on metal classic. After self-releasing their album, it was taken up by the small Irish label Rubyworks. Rodrigo y Gabriela have toured almost constantly, becoming a noted festival attraction due to their blazing fretboard action.
The duo’s debut album currently sits on 500,000 sales world-wide, just over two years after its initial release. Outside of classical music, the last instrumental album to be certified gold in the UK was “The Shadows’ Life Story” in 2004.
Rodrigo y Gabriela have just completed an extensive European tour, and are now set to bring their impressive guitar skills to the United States and Japan.
