Ultra-prolific songwriter Robert Pollard is preparing to release not one but two new albums under different names, it has been announced.
As the leader of Guided By Voices, Pollard became one of the talked about names in American music with a hectic recording schedule. With over 1000 songs registered under his name, Pollard is one of the prolific songwriters of his generation, with the split of Guided By Voices in 2004 not curbing his workaholic ambitions.
Having already released several albums this year, Pollard is not set to unveil not one, not two but three more. ‘Ataxia’ will be released by the Circus Devils, a Pollard project who include former Guided By Voices alumni. Released on October 31st, the album is the follow up to last year’s ‘Sgt. Disco’.
As well as this Pollard is preparing a solo LP due in early 2009. The songwriter began releasing albums under his own name in 1996, and this latest release promises to be another slice of bizarre melody. Called ‘The Crawling Distance’ it is due on January 20th.
Haven’t we forgotten something? Yes, yes we have: Pollard has one final album due. His new pet project Boston Spaceships are preparing to release their second album in six months when ‘The Planets Are Blasted’ is released on February 17th.
Phew!
