Rinse are set to release new Spyro and Sian Anderson compilation ‘I Love Grime’ on October 1st.
As astonishing as it might sound, but Grime – that most provocatively youthful of genres – is reaching the ripe old age of ten. Born from London’s intense sonic circuitry, the sound has broadened and diversified over the years without losing its nascent sting.
Rinse are set to step in with a handy introduction, preparing new compilation ‘I Love Grime’. Set to be released on October 1st, the twin-discs find Spyro and Sian Anderson leafing through Grime’s back pages.
There are plenty of classics on show here – think ‘Pow’, ‘Eskimo’, ‘Street Fighter Riddim’ and more – making this a worthwhile wander down memory lane. Alternatively, if you’ve never quite managed to get a decent grasp on Grime as a genre then this looks to be the perfect starting point.
Referencing plenty of landmarks on the way, ‘I Love Grime’ also points to the genre’s future. Faze Miyake – author of last year’s ‘Take Off’ smash – is featured, re-working Magnetic Man’s ‘Anthemic’.
