Former Beatle Ringo Starr has announced in a new video statement that he will no longer sign memorabilia or answer fan mail as he is too busy.
The legendary drummer recently complete a tour of the US and Canada, currently dividing his time between the South of France and his UK home in Surrey. All that traveling eats into the former Beatles free time, leaving no time to answer fan mail. “Please do not send fan mail to any address you have,” he said in a video message on his website.
“Nothing will be signed after the 20th of October. If that is the date on the envelope, it’s gonna be tossed. I’m warning you with peace and love I have too much to do,” the 68-year-old drummer said.
He finished issuing a blunt warning: “No more fan mail and no objects to be signed. Nothing.”
Although the message is peppered by Starr’s frequent promises of peace and love, his cantankerous side is very much to the fore. Dressed in black, the message is very imposing and to the point.
This is not the first time Starr has offended his fans – in a television interview earlier this year he said there was nothing he missed about his home city of Liverpool. As a response, vandals decapitated a foliage sculpture of the drummer.
