Texan shoegaze outlaws Ringo Deathstarr are set to release new compilation ‘Sparkler’ on July 25th.
Perhaps its due to the Lone Star State’s repressive attitudes, but Texas seems to boast more than its fair share of psychedelic visionaries. Roky Erickson to White Denim, the area seems to have a lysergic undercoat.
The latest in this lineage? Ringo Deathstarr. The band’s debut album ‘Colour Trip’ emerged earlier this year, with Club AC30 helping to bring the Austin group’s shoegaze vibrations to a wider audience.
A fantastic first offering, ‘Colour Trip’ blasted past the shoegaze template to enter new ground. The culmination of work lasting years, Ringo Deathstarr have now decided to gather together their early releases.
The band have released a number of one off singles, and even a five track EP in the run up to ‘Colour Trips’. Almost impossible for British fans to uncover, Ringo Deathstarr have decided to step in and re-issue the material.
Gathered on new compilation ‘Sparkler’ the band have added two new tracks. A great starting point as well a useful collection for fans, Ringo Deathstarr have added to the psychedelic feel on the vinyl edition.
‘Sparkler’ will be pressed onto three different kinds of vinyl: transparent with silver glitter, transparent blue with silver glitter, and white & blue swirly vinyl.
As if that wasn’t enough, Ringo Deathstarr have confirmed that work has already begun on their second album. Heading back into the studio after their current batch of tour dates, the group have confirmed plans for a short trip to the UK.
Organising two shows, Ringo Deathstarr are due to play Manchester on August 1st before heading down to London. Taking place in the Hoxton Bar & Grill, the show in the capital will focus on ‘Colour Trips’ and the new compilation.
