RIKI returns to her roots on debut single 'Venting', shooting the debut in Jamaica.
The rising singer was born on the island, but now bases herself in the United States, giving her a unique perspective on currents in youth culture.
'Venting' wraps this all together in one bundle, a hard-edged ballad that fuses Jamaican patois with a 21st century R&B sound. She explains:
“My sound has a very millennial edge but with an old school soul. The ‘Venting’ video is a piece of art, there is no story line. The song isn’t above love. It’s a statement of who I am as an individual and why I’m motivated and determined in my personal life.”
The video takes RIKI to Portland, Jamaica, close to her roots on the island. Directed by Savannah Baker & Phillipa Price a.k.a. the Pum Pum Gyals – with additional footage from Rick Elgood – it's a spectacular, enormously colourful introduction.
