Sheffield artist Richard Hawley is set to toast 20 years of his celebrated album ‘Coles Corner’.
The record was released in 2005, Richard Hawley’s third studio album and his first for Mute Records. An acclaimed song cycle that found the universal in the local, it contains some of his most potent, engrossing work.
Recorded in Sheffield’s Yellow Arch Studios, and co-produced with his long-time bassist Colin Elliot, and Mike Timm, ‘Coles Corner’ remains a firm fan favourite – and it turns 20 this year.
A full re-issue is timed for July 4th, with a 2CD deluxe edition set to add b-sides and previously unreleased acoustic tracks. The new vinyl edition boasts a gatefold sleeve, with the half-speed master sprucing up the album’s sonic heft.

In addition to this Richard Hawley is preparing to take ‘Coles Corner’ out on the road, confirming plans for a tour dedicated to the album. Performed front to back in full by the songwriter and his band, they’ll be joined by a string section.
The dates begin with a show on July 5th at the Museum Gardens in York, and will run throughout September and October.
