Rich Homie Quan Has Died; Cause Of Death

He was 34 years old...

Atlanta rapper Rich Homie Quan has died, it has been confirmed.

News emerged earlier today of the rapper’s death, which was then confirmed by multiple sources in the United States. According to several tributes Rich Homie Quan’s death was caused by a drugs overdose – this is yet to be confirmed by the artist’s family.

Initially obsessed with sports, a troubled spell in his teens saw Rich Homie Quan drop out of school, before spending time in jail following a series of robberies. Emerging from his penal sentence, he dedicated himself to music, working with alacrity.

Initially informed by the Dirty South, the Atlanta rapper was part of a generation who firmly placed the city on the map as a key junction for music innovation in North America.

His single ‘Type Of Way’ became a breakout moment, with a flurry of mixtapes in 2013 and 2014 forging his reputation.

Quan’s sole studio album ‘Rich As In Spirit’ landed in 2018, and his career seemed to tail off after a frenetic start. 2022 EP ‘Family & Mula’ was a re-start, coming almost a decade after he claimed a BET Award.

During his initial rise Rich Homie Quan was closely associated with Young Thug, working together in Rich Gang, a project that produced the influential hit ‘Lifestyle’. The two severed ties, however, with fans continually speculating about a potential reunion. With this sad news, it seems the reunion will never come.
