Delicate new song ‘All I’ve Ever Known’ is the fifth preview of his incoming album, and it’s beautifully sculpted. A finely poised slice of musicality, RHODES displays his maturity, framing a less-is-more aesthetic with a tender lyric.
He writes…
When I wrote this song I was thinking deeply and reflecting a lot on childhood and how, as we grow, not only do we carry our own trauma, but we also carry generational trauma which can have a profound effect on how we love and care for people.
The words ‘All I’ve Ever Known’ play into the idea that, for me, as much as grass is green and snow is cold, love doesn’t last and the people you care about the most will leave. As I was collaborating on this song with my writing partners I realised we all are deeply effected and at times traumatised by the way we experience life as kids and young adults and ultimately, as daunting and painful as it can be, it’s up to us to do the work and try to make sure we don’t put our own past traumas and insecurities upon the people around us.
Tune in now.
