Reports have emerged suggesting that The Stone Roses are close to releasing their third album.
The band reformed in 2011, playing a series of stunning re-union shows the following year. Late in 2015 the band broke cover once more, announcing huge dates at Manchester's Etihad Stadium and a headline slot for T In The Park.
It seems that rumours of new material have now been given some substance. The Mirror reports a source close to the group as saying: "Ian Brown and the lads have been busy getting their next album ready. It will be album number three. It’s a long time coming, but they feel the time is right now. They’ve been back in the studio. Everyone is very excited about it."
Previously, bass player Mani promised fans that The Stone Roses had been "working on a few bits" which could arrive in 2015.
Guitarist John Squire immediately contradicted this, however, saying any new album would take "about five years" to finish.
