Brixton's much-loved Windmill venue could be the latest London institution to come under threat.
Local news website Brixton Buzz reports that the Windmill has been listed in a recent issue of property industry magazine Estates Gazette as a 'development/investment' opportunity.
Granted, the Windmill is a little rough around the edges but – as Brixton Buzz points out – a change of owner could have a profound impact on the way the venue operates.
An award-winning live music hub, the Brixton Windmill recently reflected on its success: "We feel we get these accolades for a number of reasons. Entry is cheap. Beer at pub prices. There’s a nice candlelit atmosphere, friendly staff and (less friendly) dogs on the roof. But most important of all is the quality of music – it’s no good telling us that you’ll ram the place with your mates; if your music sucks we aren’t interested."
