Rejjie Snow returns with new single ‘Rio de Janeiro’.
The Irish rap force will release his ambitious new album ‘Peace 2 Da World’ on October 25th, a bold step forward from the wordsmith. Broadening his concerns and deepening his creativity, the record features some vivid highlights.
Take ‘Rio de Janeiro’. On one level a homage to the Brazilian city and its heady atmosphere, the track is also an ambitious epistle – a lyric formed around a pen pal letter.
Challenging himself to work in a different way, Rejjie opted to seek inspiration in a core track from his childhood – Eminem’s ‘Stan’.
There’s a narrative streak to ‘Rio de Janeiro’, and – as ever with the Irish rapper – it’s personal, and revealing. He comments…
“We [Snow and long-term producer Rakhi] were trying to make a record like Stan by Eminem & Dido, initially making a pen pal record which transpired into this & then spending some time in Rio, I decided to dedicate a song to her.”
Tune in now.
