Dublin wordsmith Rejjie Snow will release new album ‘PEACE 2 DA WORLD’ on October 25th.
The Irish rapper recently signalled his return, and Rejjie Snow hits the road in November for a series of UK headline shows. New album ‘PEACE 2 DA WORLD’ is out on October 25th, and it represents a fresh chapter for the artist.
He comments…
“It’s a worldly album, sonically & emotionally. I’m a nomadic person so this is my soundtrack to those days & the places I roamed. On this album I’m speaking to my favourite person in the world and this is the first time I’ve made something for someone specifically. I like working this way because I was forced to honour & challenge myself in ways I’ve never done so before.”
New single ‘Karen’ rides a wicked beat, channelling the spirit of hip-hop studio auteurs such as Madlib or Quasimoto. Rejjie Snow’s biting lyricism deals with judgemental figures in society, daring to push back against preconceptions.
He says…
“This record was a reactionary one. Most times we’re misunderstood by people & without being judgmental about it I wanted to approach this new age phenomena of Karen’s in a light hearted and fun way. I’m not big on making a point of things so literally especially when it has to be catchy, this is just me and how I approach art.”
Direct and punchy, there’s also a playfully cartoonish aspect to ‘Karen’ – something brought to life in the Reuben Bastienne-Lewis directed video.
Tune in now.
