Red Velvet’s SEULGI continues to flesh her repertoire as a solo artist with new EP, ‘Accidentally On Purpose’, out via SM Entertainment.

‘Accidentally On Purpose’ marks SEULGI’s first solo release in nearly two and a half years, following her debut mini-project 28 Reasons’. The six-track collection is led by ‘Baby, Not Baby’, which takes cues from noughties-era confection pop. The track was produced by GRAMMY-nominated producer Erick Serna of Olivia Rodrigo ‘Guts’ fame, with lyrics penned by K-pop hitmaker KENZIE.

‘Baby, Not Baby’ ushers in the duality at the heart of SEULGI’s new era. The EP’s darker turn takes root with ‘Better Dayz’, a brooding alt-pop track that that builds to a whiplash-inducing electro-clash crescendo. It contrasts with bubblegum-RnB feel of ‘Rollin’ (With My Homies)’, and ‘Whatever’, a sonorous mid-tempo that highlights SEULGI’s wispy mainline vocal. The EP is rounded out by ‘Weakness’, a sentimental love song co-written by the singer herself.

SEULGI, along with her Red Velvet band members IRENE and JOY, is set to return to the UK to perform at SMTOWN Live in London at Allianz Twickenham Stadium on June 28th. The epic stadium concert, commemorating SM Entertainment’s 30th anniversary, also features other K-pop stars including NCT 127, NCT DREAM, aespa, RIIZE and more.
