Red Hot Chili Peppers’ Flea Gets Signature Bass

Fender to partner new release...

Red Hot Chili Peppers' Flea is set to launch his own signature bass guitar in partnership with Fender.

The bass player has always had incredible chops – even taking time out to attend college and work on his theory – but this is the first time Flea has launched his own instrument range.

Working with Fender, the new instrument is based on their '61 Fender Jazz Bass and is specially tailored so that the player can match Flea's electric funk and jazz influenced bass runs.

Flea explains: "The ’61 Fender Jazz Bass is magic. It's truly the greatest bass I’ve ever played. Fender embodies everything I love about music and individuality. It reflects the soul of rock, punk, R&B and funk. It's this bass that pushes me to give more each time I play. The Flea Jazz Bass is a true resurrection and possesses that wave of energy a bass should give you when it’s in your hands."

Hand-crafted in Ensenada, the Flea Jazz Bass features an offset alder body and faded shell pink nitrocellulose lacquer finish, perfectly replicating his personal instrument as it exists today – even down to playing wear.
