Rebecka Reinhard is a wandering soul.
A songwriter driven forward by inner impulses, it's a path that has taken her from Sweden to London.
Working every step of the way, her dreamy shoegaze textures are used to pursue deep emotional truths.
New single 'Whale' is a sign of her progress, taken from sessions that have seen her flit between the UK capital and the Swedish countryside.
It's a bittersweet offering, the precocious beauty of the arrangement belying the tender lyricism.
There's a subtle Motown influence, too, with Rebecka reconstituting pop tropes to explore her feelings.
She comments: “‘Whale’ sounds happy but is quite sad and cynical and has a deep, hidden melancholy, a bit like old soul songs like ‘Tracks Of My Tears.”
