Raze Regal and White Denim Inc will combine on a new joint album.
The endeavour owes a debt to a joint tour back in 2019, when Raze Regal and White Denim’s James Petralli became close. The pandemic swept their plans away, with Raze pausing to deal with the end of a long-term relationship, and the dissolution of his previous band.
The two songwriters kept in touch, swapping ideas, and making plans. New album ‘Raze Regal & White Denim Inc’ was constructed by a varying cast, with the dual songwriters acting as a central pivot.
Out on November 24th through the fine folks at Bella Union, the material became a bulwark against the fraught experiences of the pandemic, and beyond. “It was a very hard time for both of us,” explains Raze. “This record was born out of the friendship and the closeness that James and I share, as well as pure creativity.”
New song ‘Dislocation’ is the first to emerge from the project, and it taps into their shared penchant for psychedelia. Sharply melodic yet also drifting in that ethereal, lysergic sense, it contains aspects of both their DNA, while embodying something new and distinct.
