Scandinavian retro-rock minimalists The Raveonettes are preparing to release their fourth album, which will be named ‘In And Out Of Control’.
Hailing from Denmark, Sune Rose Wagner and singer Sharin Foo are in love with classic rock ‘n’ roll. With their greasy leather jackets clad around them, The Raveonettes once released an album written entirely in the key of B flat major.
Then, by means of a follow up, they wrote an album in B flat minor. Taking a break to allow Sharin Foo to rest during her pregnancy, the band announced earlier this year that they had begun work on their fourth album.
In a unique twist The Raveonettes revealed that they would demo new material and then release it via Twitter. After listening to fans suggestions the group would then alter the song as they saw fit.
Thus far the Danish duo have unveiled three tracks – ‘Last Dance’, ‘Boys Who Rape’ and ‘In And Out Of Control’.
Speaking to American entertainment magazine Billboard the band’s singer Sharin Foo claimed that the new album is more “extreme” than ever before.
“What strikes me is that more so than ever before the mood of the music and the subject of the lyrics are in extreme conflict with one another,” she said.
“Our past records have tended to sound like different perspectives of one controlling emotion, both sonically and thematically, almost like a drone. But this record is very much a collection of songs which each has their own individual emotion, energy and personality.”
Although the album takes its name from an early demo, the band revealed on Twitter this week that ‘In And Out Control’ will only be made available as a B-side. The Raveonettes appear to have entered an extremely creative phase.
“I still feel like I’m just emerging from the six intense weeks in the studio in Copenhagen and still digesting what this album is really all about,” Foo said. “But I know it’s a strong album that feels very complete.”
The Raveonettes are due to release their new album ‘In And Out Of Control’ on October 6th.
