Dance rock two-piece Ratatat are to release their fourth album ‘LP4’ on June 7th.
Formed by Mike Stroud and Evan Mast, Ratatat make a hell of a noise for two people. By turns slick and streamlined, loud and in your face the band merge dance with rock to produce some a little special.
Over the course of three albums Ratatat have earned praise from both sides of the divide, with dance acts recruiting the pair to work on remixes. Touring heavily, the duo have somehow managed to squeeze in recent takes on Bjork, Animal Collective and DFA signings YACHT.
Taking a short break last year, Ratatat have completed work on their fourth album. Following in the footsteps of ‘LP3’ the new material has been gathered into a handy bundle named ‘LP4’.
Due for release on June 7th, the quick turnaround should come as no surprise to fans. Ratatat don’t like to sit around, with Mike Stroud revealing recently that the bulk of the album was recorded during sessions for ‘LP3’.
Available through their long term home of XL Recordings, the band have yet to premiere material from the new album. Opening with the track ‘Bilar’ the album is expected to follow in the footsteps of its illustrious predecessors.
Containing tracks such as ‘Graper Juice City’ and ‘Bob Ghandi’ it is clear that the New York duo have not lost their sense of humour. Expect single, video, art work details to follow shortly!
