Rare footage of psychedelic legend Syd Barrett has emerged with a new DVD titled “A Techinicolour Dream – The Story Of The 60s Underground” due for release next month.
Syd Barrett was a pivotal figure in British psychedelic music, writing the bulk of the classic Pink Floyd debut album “The Piper At The Gates Of Dawn”. A seminal album, it is among the finest released in the era. Tragically, shortly afterwards Barrett suffered a drug induced nervous breakdown which sidelined him until his death last year.
The footage features Barrett playing with Pink Floyd at a number of venues/ The DVD aims to tell the story of the Undergorund movement in the UK up to the 14 hour all night concert at London’s Alexandra Palace on April 29th 1967 – arguably the blast off point for the summer of love.
Highlights of the new documentary include interviews with surviving members of Pink Floyd, producer Joe Boyd, Kevin Ayers and scene maker Barry Miles.
