Rapture Mix Album Due

Group Latest In 'Tapes' Series

New York group The Rapture are set to release a new compilation as part of the new ‘Tapes’ series from !K7 on October 20th, it has been announced.

The band are renowned for their adoption of dancefloor styles, mixing punk-funk with disco in a furious collision of genres. The band released their last album “Pieces Of The People We Love” in 2006, and are currently working on a follow up.

The Rapture are known for their love of dance music, and members of the band frequently DJ in their spare time. The new mix album should act as a good hint of where the group will go next. An extremely varied affair, it opens with psychedelic soul group The Undisputed Truth and takes in music from the 70s to the present day.

The eclectic nature of the mix is epitomised by classic tunes like Vaughan Mason & Crew’s 1980 disco-rap milestone ‘Bounce, Rock, Skate, Roll’ and the irresistible beat-pop ditty ‘I’m An Indian Too’, recorded in 1979 by East Harlem’s Don Armando and his Second Avenue Rumba Band. NYC’s latest clubland stars also make their mark, from neo-disco supergroup Arcade Lover to hip-hop DJ Frog’s dazzling robo-funk alter ego, Dances With White Girls.

A stunning mix that embodies all that is great about The Rapture, this installment of the ‘Tapes’ series is well worth looking out for. “The Rapture – Tapes Mix” is released on October 20th.
