Gogol Bordello confirm involvement

Gypsy punks Gogol Bordello have confirmed their involvement in the upcoming Rage Against The Machine free show.

Funny thing, the internet. A rumour in London can be spread by a forum in Hong Kong before being reported as fact in New York.

Case in point? The upcoming Rage Against The Machine show in Finsbury Park. Reports led us to believe that the support cast had been confirmed, with one website claiming to have the exclusive.

Only it wasn’t true. Sorry about that!

By way of an update, Gogol Bordello have confirmed their involvement. Singer Eugene Hutz revealed all to BBC 6Music, with the frontman claiming that the band have close links with Tom Morello.

The guitarist was a huge fan of the group when they were just starting, and introduced them to eventual producer Rick Rubin. “Tom brought Rick (Rubin) several times to our shows, I think it was his third show that I finally met him backstage, that was a big moment for all of us.”

However for their new album Gogol Bordello have taken inspiration from South America, in part due to Hutz’ relocation to Brazil. “It is a tremendous goldmine of music to get inspired by,” Hütz explains.

“For non Brazilian people it will still be adventurous music, trans-continental Rock ‘N’ Roll by Gogol Bordello.”
