Radiohead’s Ed O’Brien Plans Solo Record

And it could land this year...

Radiohead guitarist Ed O'Brien is planning to release a new solo record this year.

The guitarist has been working on material for some time, first revealing his plans during a 2016 interview.

Now he's given a few more details. Appearing on That Pedal Show, Ed O'Brien explained that he has been working with producers Flood and Catherine Marks.

It's not quite a solo affair, either – Ed has been working alongside a studio band that contains Dave Okumu, bassist Nathan East, and drummer Omar Hakim – who actually recorded on David Bowie's classic single 'Let's Dance'.

The record was partially inspired by Ed O'Brien's time in Brazil, and specifically his experiences during carnival.

As for connections with Radiohead, he explains:

“You’ll make a little connection. There will be textures. There’s quite a lot of depth it. It’s a little bit magical realist, slightly psychedelic, a lot of colour.”
