Selway has previously performed outwith the confines of Radiohead. The drummer played a song at the 7 Worlds Collide concert in New Zealand back in January, unveiling the solo effort ‘The Family Madness’.
Organised by Neil Finn the concert was in aid of conservation charities and included contributions from musicians around the world.
Now Phil Selway is due to release his debut album. The drummer will be joined by the likes of Wilco members Glenn Kotche and Pat Sansone to play on the project, and multi-instrumentalist solo artist Lisa Germano and bass player Sebastian Steinberg have also contributed.
Retreating to Radiohead’s Oxfordshire studio to work on the album, the new material has yet to be given a name or a release date.
Radiohead released their last album ‘In Rainbows’ as a pay what you like download, and speculation is rife as to what format Phil Selway will release his new album in.
