Radiohead Prepare New 12 Inch

For Record Store Day

Radiohead are set to release a new 12 inch to celebrate this year’s instalment of Record Store Day.

Radiohead were early adopters of the internet, with their blog Dead Air Space becoming a must-read for fans. However this does not mean that the band have left behind traditional formats.

Returning with ‘The King Of Limbs’ the band surprised fans with a quickfire download release. On Monday (March 28th) the album was released in a physical format, with Radiohead also releasing a one off newspaper.

‘The Universal Sigh’ was an enormous success, with Thom Yorke helping to distribute copies to fans in London. Following this, Radiohead have confirmed details of a new 12 inch in time for Record Store Day.

Surprisingly, it seems that the band’s well of material has not yet run dry. Radiohead have gathered two tracks for the forthcoming vinyl release, with ‘The Butcher’ and ‘Supercollider’ set to share wax.

‘Supercollider’ has never been physically released before, despite forming part of the band’s live set for some time. Videos of the track are easily available on YouTube, although this is the first studio recording to emerge.

Released on Record Store Day (April 16th) this is the latest high profile cut confirmed for the celebration of independence. Now on XL, Radiohead will limit the new vinyl release to just 2000 copies.

According to the official Record Store Day Twitter feed, the 12 inch will only be available to purchase from certain shops in the UK.

Meanwhile, ‘The King Of Limbs’ is selling strongly in the UK and in the United States. The album is on course for a Top Ten entry in both countries, although Adele may well keep them from occupying the number one slot.

Radiohead are due to release ‘The Butcher’ / ‘Supercollider’ on April 16th.
