Grammy award winning Oxford group Radiohead have been caught up in another row after teen star Miley Cyrus heavily criticised the band in a recent interview.
Radiohead’s profile in the US has soared recently. Industry busting new album ‘In Rainbows’ topped the Billboard charts, and was acclaimed by critics as a stunning return to form.
Hailed by fans and fellow artists alike as an inspiration, Radiohead are capable of selling out massive venues in the United States.
What were Radiohead doing at the Grammys? Besides performing and picking up awards, of course. Not content with snubbing Kanye West the band also turned down an invitation to meet Miley Cyrus – and may live to regret the consequences.
In an interview with a Portland radio station the singer claimed she was snubbed, and began to rant at the band. US magazine Pitchfork reports the singer as saying Radiohead are “the reason I love music”.
Cyrus attempted to meet the band after the ceremony but was told Radiohead “doesn’t really do that”.
“The reason I’m in this business is to make people happy,” she said, implying that Radiohead aren’t. She added, “I left ’cause I was so upset. I wasn’t going to watch. Stinkin’ Radiohead! I’m gonna ruin them, I’m going to tell everyone.”
Radiohead have yet to respond.
