R.E.M. have confirmed plans for a huge new box set featuring 25 years of BBC sessions.
The group enjoyed a lengthy relationship with the broadcasters, who backed them when still underground heroes, and followed their path to world fame.
The new box set is titled 'R.E.M. At The BBC' and features numerous highlights, gathered across 8CDs (or 2CDs in the slim-line version)
. Amongst the highlights are Peel sessions, a set for Mark and Lard, a full concert from 1984, their Glastonbury headline slot in 1999, and the band's fabled stand at the Milton Keynes Bowl in 1995.
The BBC documentary Accelerating Backwards will also be made available for the first time – honestly, there's almost too many highlights to mention.
Out on October 19th via Craft Recordings, the launch is being celebrated with an acoustic version of 'Losing My Religion' – recorded for Nicky Campbell Session Into The Night on BBC Radio 1, it was first broadcast in March 1991.
