Queens Of The Stone Age Re-Issue Debut

With three unreleased tracks

Queens Of The Stone Age are set to issue an expanded version of their debut album.

Departing the final line up of Kyuss, Josh Homme felt disillusioned with music. Taking the stoner rock template to its logical conclusion, the singer began adding more esoteric elements to his songwriting.

Forming Queens Of The Stone Age, the band’s debut album was a cult success in 1998. Much more melodic than those final Kyuss recordings, the record cleans up the stoner excesses and replaces them with some unexpected influences.

A vital start to the band’s career, the album is now set to be given an expansive re-issue. ‘Queens Of The Stone Age’ will be spruced up for the release, containing three previously unheard tracks.

Initially left off the album, the tracks include ‘The Bronze’, ‘These Aren’t The Droids You’re Looking For’ and ‘Spiders and Vinegaroons’. Blabbermouth reports that the self-titled effort is set to be re-issued on vinyl for December 26th, with a CD version following on December 7th.

The new edition reflects the band’s original vision for the album, restoring ‘Queens Of The Stone Age’ to its initial running order. Now containing fourteen tracks, the record remains a visceral and provocative debut album.

The re-issue comes as Queens Of The Stone Age become rather nostalgic. The band recently re-issued their epochal set ‘Rated R’ which must surely rank as one of the finest American rock albums of the past ten years.

Speaking to journalists after the release, Josh Homme admitted that he was toying with the idea of performing all of their albums live.
