Reclusive multi-hyphenate Q has shared his long-awaited album ‘Soul,PRESENT’.
The project is out now, and it ends a lengthy wait for new material from fans. Q tends to finesse his art to the Nth degree, with remarkable 2020 EP ‘The Shave Experiment’ establishing him as an emphatic voice in future-facing R&B.
Debut album ‘Soul,PRESENT’ is out now, a bold and vivacious selection of songs that leans on 80s electro-funk – at times a homage to Cameo, or Rick James – while also gazing into unknown pastures.
Ruthlessly honest, Q uses ‘Soul,PRESENT’ as a space to explore factors not commonly heard in R&B, spinning established tropes on their head. Also, it simply rocks hard throughout – lead single ‘Understand’ is a hugely colourful left-field R&B jammer, with additional vocals from Baby Rose.
