Australian math rock outfit PVT have released two new remixes ahead of their British tour.
What’s in a name? When ‘Pivot’ became ‘PVT’ the difference was subtle, but as the year winds on it’s clear that the group have altered the way they make music.
New album ‘Church With No Magic’ boasted plenty of antique synths, with the band putting vocals to the forefront for the very first time. New single ‘Window’ is a blast of math rock energy, which comes complete with two new remixes.
The album version finds PVT swimming within a sea at dense keyboards, with guitar lines blazing like signals from a lighthouse. ‘Window’ has been re-worked by two new producers, with the results available to download.
Dorian Concept hails from Austria, and has previously worked with Jamie Lidell. The producer can move from free jazz to electronica, and counts Los Angeles beatsmith Flying Lotus amongst his admirers.
Taking ‘Window’ and turning it into a modal jazz effort, Dorian Concept brings out new influences in PVT’s sound.
Elsewhere, Australian group Danimals take on their math rock cousins. Danimals recently signed to Stones Throw, and took time out of sessions with Santigold to add some woozy hip hop atmospherics.
