Public Image Ltd. have shared the full video for new single ‘Hawaii’.
Out now, the song is a palatial return, one that sands away their rough edges to aim for emotional directness. Lyrically, it’s prompted by singer John Lydon’s experiences as a carer for his wife Nora, who has Alzheimer’s.
“It is dedicated to everyone going through tough times on the journey of life, with the person they care for the most,” he says. “It’s also a message of hope that ultimately love conquers all.”
The twist? It’s also a would-be Eurovision entry.
Public Image Ltd. have entered the song into the Irish heats, with the public able to choose the winning song. In fact, the band will perform life on Ireland’s The Late Late Show on February 3rd – watch out!
