Cult psych-punk hero Dez Dare has shared new song ‘Got A Fire In My Socket’.
The underground figure grew up in Australia, settling in the coastal town of Geelong (Djilang). Drawn to the local punk scene, he quickly became a key figure, playing in multiple bands, and doing sound for any outfit that passed through.
Building his own unique catalogue, Dez Dare blends squalid punk sounds with aspects of brown acid psychedelia, building into something uniquely wild and colourful. New album ‘A Billion Goats. A Billion Sparks. Fin.’ is out on March 1st, released via perennial outsider hub God Unknown Records.
New song ‘Got A Fire In My Socket’ leads the way – punchy Nuggets-style minimalism with a dose of second generation punk for good measure, there’s also a sense of ragged, West Coast psychedelia in there, too.
If there’s a slight cartoonish quality then that’s all the better – and particularly apt, since the Deluxe Edition of his incoming album boasts a 12 page comic illustrated by long-time collaborator Mike Keane.
Tune in now.
