Evergreen music legend Prince held a fantastic party on the night of the Oscars (February 22nd) playing a string of covers with his band.
Throwing open the doors to his Los Angeles mansion, Prince invited huge swathes of celebrity California. Gathering in Avalon club the party was said to last until the wee small hours, with Prince providing the entertainment.
Fans queued for hours outside the venue after rumours emerged that access could be granted with a $100 ticket. The intimate party is the latest stunt the newly socially conscious artist has pulled, after playing a secret gig in his basement.
Prince came on stage at 1.45am and performed covers by The Beatles, Rolling Stones and oddball selections such as Jimmy Eat World and The Troggs’ ‘Wild Thing’.
Amongst the celebrities watching the show were Alicia Keys, Maroon 5, Tyler Perry and many more.
The show also acted as a launch for Prince’s new website Lotusflow3r.com.
Prince is currently working on three new albums, with no release date available.
