A promo cassette copy of 'The Versace Experience - Prelude To Gold' by Prince has just sold on Discogs for $4000.
With Cassette Store Day just passed - and Clash rounding up some essential tape labels HERE - it's heartening to know that cassettes can stoke the fire of collectors in the same manner as vinyl.
Discogs have just revealed that a promo cassette copy of the Prince rarity 'The Versace Experience - Prelude To Gold' has sold for $4087, which - given the way the pound is plummeting - is rapidly becoming an extraordinary amount of money.
The tape still has a long way to go, though, before eclipsing the $15,000 one collector shelled out earlier this year for a copy of Prince's legendary, pulled-at-the-last-minute, release 'The Black Album'.
Discogs have compiled the most expensive albums sold on the site during August into a handy chart - check it out HERE.
