Having recently pricked up ears with his 'Skepta' track, which revolves around a motivational monologue from grime's current reigning king, and a BBC 1Xtra mix for Sian Anderson, Sheffield beatsmith Walter Ego is on top form.
Rude grime flair and swinging riddims borrowed from UK funky are more or less Walter's bag (that's not his real name), and new club-ready EP 'Radio Bits' shows off some aggy bass strokes, coupled with some loose cannon textures that cry out for an MC to spit over.
'Smoke Bomb', which we're premiering here, makes the four-tracker go out with a bang. Appearing on Steel City imprint Bad Taste, it's a ruffneck slice of bass with an addictive spiralling synth line that'll surely find its way into many tastemakers' mixes. Hard hats advised.

Bad Taste release 'Radio Bits' on September 25th. Grab it here.
