Premiere: twinsmastic – ‘sounds from last night’

Down tempo French hip hop production...

France – with its myriad of cultures, languages, styles – almost immediately took to hip hop.

For many, it seemed to represent the solution to the country's spectral, fragmented identity.

Providing a voice for the voiceless, hip hop is continuing to allow French musicians to express themselves in new ways.

twinsmatic aren't strictly hip hop, but they definitely draw from that well. Down tempo productions with languid atmospheres, there's an R&B sheen sitting above their electronic melancholia.

Working for three years at the colette concept store in Paris, the duo developed a visual aesthetic alongside their musical conversations.

Already a cult taste, twinsmastic's debut EP 'sounds from last night' is out this week. A wonderful introduction, it's sonically sumptuous while also having a real emotional pull.
