Premiere: Turtle – ‘Lavender’ (Machines in Heaven Remix)

When Scottish minds collide...

Creeping online late last year, ‘Lavender’ showcased an elegant, elegiac side to the work of Glasgow based producer Turtle.

All woozy vocals, funereal synths and clipped percussion, it seemed to drift through space in a soothing, zen-like fashion.

Fellow Scottish types Machines In Heaven have stepped in on remix duties, supplying something quite distinct. That same devotion to texture is there, but the tones are left brittle as ‘Lavender’ is turned into a proto-techno jacker.

Retaining an efficient use of space, Machine In Heaven piece ‘Lavender’ apart – leading to a finale that is as climactic as it is soothing.

Catch Machines In Heaven on February 13th at the launch of the Design In Motion project. Taking place at Dundee Vision Room, the show then heads out on a 78 date mobile project before finally settling at London’s V&A Museum.
