There's a word in Norwegian for far flung places, for towns which are almost unreachable.
It's called Sattellittskygge. A word draped in a sense of solitary melancholy, it's uniquely Scandinavian – and it's also the title of Kristian Torkelsen's new album.
Working from a remote town himself, the producer knows a thing or two about the true meaning of 'Sattellittskygge'. Fusing left field hip hop influences to introverted electronics, the new album is a fascinating ramble through lesser charted regions.
Out now via Norwegian label Sellout! Music, Clash is able to present a rather special preview. Album highlight 'Tor Kel Sen' has been re-worked by Leeds' juggernauts Vessels, drifting more prominently into dancefloor fare.
Yet this is hardly a big room tech house track. Vessels turn 'Tor Kel Sen' into a piece of avant techno, comparable to Four Tet, say, or even Pantha Du Prince.
